What are the main differences?
Clearly the Toshiba has a larger capacity allowing you to fit more food inside. But the more modern sleek design of the Russell Hobbs, makes your kitchen look and feel better. We were pleasantly surprised with how the Russell Hobbs looks.
However the Toshiba comes with more extras. The 6 cooking presets and 11 different power intensities blows away the industry standard Russell Hobbs model with just 5 levels. Both are 800W which is a good benchmark for higher range microwaves. We found that the defrosting setting on the Toshiba (taking in account weight or time) was better than the Russell Hobbs and the food tasted like it was cooked more through.
Our conclusion?
We were pretty happy with both models, their price points and functionality. But the Toshiba with its many extras and quicker cooking methods is a better option for the money. But it’s not to go unmentioned, the Russell Hobbs can be bought in a set with other Russell Hobbs products (toaster or kettle) for an overall cheaper shop.
