How is Toshiba as a brand?

Toshiba is the hallmark of Japanese quality, especially when it comes to tech and microwaves. Along with the stunning enamel design, most Toshiba microwaves are stuffed with presets and other features. Along with Amazon’s money back guarantee.

What does it cost to run a microwave?

Believe it or not, a microwave with a grill function and convection cooking (similar to a real oven plugged into the mains) is actual a cost saving alternative.

What does the W with microwaves stand for?

With microwaves wattage = power. Meaning 1000W has more cooking power than a 700W microwave. 1000W microwaves have extremely efficient cooking power and cook food through. In General the higher the W or Wattage, the quicker the food can be cooked.

What did we think of the Toshiba MW2-AC25TF?

The MW2 is definitely a higher end microwave. With a large housing and strong cooking power Toshiba have aimed to create a good model for a cheaper price.

The handy features include: Defrost by weight/time, express cooking, position memory turntable, child safety lock, and kitchen timer – makes this a great combination microwave oven for busy kitchens.

10 Handy Menu Presets: Enjoy a menu of cooking presets for optimal heating of 10 popular foods like pasta, soup, and potatoes, as well as 5 power levels to suit your unique needs.

The sleek black casing and innovative interface will add a modern touch to your kitchen’s décor, without causing a clash. Exterior: 51.3×51.3x31cm, Interior: 32.8×34.6×22.6cm (WxDxH)

Overall this microwave has a different feel to it. Unlike the cheaper Russell Hobbs models, this Toshiba screams quality. You notice this just with the simple features and buttons. I think you get a lot more microwave for your money.

What is convection? Convection in the Toshiba basically means it’s a fan assisted heating for circulating air. This cooks the food quicker and more thoroughly because hot air is being blown around the inside with the use of a fan.

What did we think of the cooking presets?

The Toshiba MW2-AC has 10 cooking presets. Much more than most cheaper microwaves, these include: potato, meat, vegetable, fish, pasta, soup, cake, pizza, chicken and instant start.

The microwave also has 5 different levels of power. Great for a broad range of heating jobs, from low heat to soften ice cream to high heat for heating up leftovers.

The Toshiba also uses Multi-Stage-Cooking, where you can set two different cooking stages, each with their own time length and power level allowing you to cook your food to perfection.

What can't I put into the microwave?

There are also some materials and certain foods you should not put in the microwave because they may cause your microwave to fail or cause injury. Here are just 3 of the top things you should not put to your microwave.

  • Metal – The inside of a microwave is actually made from metal creating a mirror effect. Instead of casting a reflection of your face, the metal reflects radio waves or microwaves. The radio waves emit electromagnetic energy, warming up the contents. When metal is placed inside a microwave, the waves are reflected off of the metal and into the sides of the microwave potentially causing the microwave to melt.
  • Plastic – Plastic contains many chemicals and oils. When placed in a microwave they can melt causing the release of Bisphenol A or BPA. According to a Harvard study plastic and microwaved plastic can increases the chances of cancer.
  • Eggs – Because microwaves cook at such high temperatures, trying to cook an egg would create steam within the eggs shell. The steam rises in the egg, causing it to explode.

Be sure to do your own research

So overall what do we think of the Toshiba MW2-AC25TF?

Personally I think this is probably the best microwave you can buy under 200 pounds. The presets, cooking options and build quality cannot be matched by any other manufacturer. From pressing the clicky buttons, to the digital display, everything feels premium and expensive.

The microwave also has extreme power. Considering the 950W power, not many other microwaves will be higher than that. Especially with the grill function built in. The Toshiba also comes in an eco friendly smaller housing, but has less options for cooking.
