So what is an Air-Fryer?
Simple put, an air fryer is a small counter top convection oven. Designed to stimulate a deep fat fryer, without submerging food into oil.
A fan then circulates hot air at high speeds, producing a crispy layer over the foods you are cooking.
Some reviews have found that Air-Fryers can cook foods to a higher standard than normal conventional ovens and toasters. Essentially the same as “convection baking” That is why in the last years they have gained a lot of popularity.
Do Air-Fryers emit radiation?
No, an air fryer doesn’t emit any form of radiation much like a microwave (which cooks using microwaves) because air fryers cook with hot air. They only emit heat and air because a mechanical fan is used inside the counter top oven to circulate at a very high speed and cook the food. The excess heat is then released outside of the appliance.
Are Air-Fryers healthy?
Typically yes, they are much healthier than a deep fat fryer. You get the same effect as a fat fryer but without the fat, oil and grease. Because, you are just cooking with hot air the same as a conventional oven.
Air-Fryers are better for the environment and you save time on cleaning up. Less oil is used, meaning the fat build up is reduced.

After the internet craze with air fryers I personally bought one and tested the concept. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. They are cheap, great at reheating foods and cook very quickly. Although they have more wattage than a microwave, they only need to be on for a fraction of the time compared to a conventional oven. How hot do Air-Fryers get?
Can my air fryer overheat? Like all cooking appliances, especially when cooking food, they get really hot. Generally air fryers will reach 150-200 degrees Celsius, they are most designed to work at a maximum of 200. However if you choose to cook with oils or excess food, this can increase the temperature beyond the limit and may ignite or damage your device.
Although it’s not common. Some cheaper air fryers are known to break from intense use. Like other appliances it’s best to not leave it on and leave the house etc and check that your food is being cooked properly.
Can I dishwasher my Air-Fryer?
Yes and no. Many newer models have dishwasher proof parts. On most air fryers the basket and other parts will be dishwasher proof. Be careful to never submerge any electrical components in water. This may damage the device and short circuit the machine.
